WHERE TO STAY IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

There is lots of great accommodation in the USA, including a majority of modern national and international hotel and motel chains, often with reasonable prices. In general, the quality of accommodation in United States is high, with standard facilities such as television, telephone and Wi-Fi in each room. Hotels payment in advance and reservations have been popular since 1800s, unless late arrival is requested. Check-out is often at 11 a.m or at the mid noontime.

Hotels and Motels

Several travel companies offer pre-paid vouchers or discount for using the same system of hotel and motel chains throughout the USA. 

Grading: Basic categories fall into Super, Deluxe, Standard and Economy. Prices vary according to standards as a result.

Bed and breakfast: Bed & Breakfast signs are not generally displayed by individual homes if you plan to experience home-stay in USA, but most homes offering this service which may be purchased by interested travellers.

Camping

This is extremely popular, especially in the Rocky Mountains. The camping season in the north lasts from mid May to mid September; reservations are recommended if camping during the high season. However, camping alongside highways and in undesignated areas is prohibited in United States.

The nearly 24,000 campsites were divided into two major categories:

Public sites: Usually linked with national or state parks and forests, offering modern and comfortable facilities from US$10-22 per night. Most of them will have toilet blocks, the socket and picnic areas. Campsites are usually operated on a first-come, first-served basis and will often restrict the length of stay. Advance reservations are possible at some national parks.

Privately run sites:These range from basic to luxury resorts. Most have laundry and drying facilities, entertainment and computer room. Reservations can be made through a central reservation office in the USA. Fees range from around US$20-40.

Backcountry camping (a general term for areas inaccessible by road) requires a permit, available free of charge from Visitor Centres or Ranger Stations. Visitors are advised to check fire regulations and not to drink water from rivers and streams.

Home-stay

Home staying in US families is a favorite choice of international children or students. Homestay accommodation connects guests with live-in hosts who open their homes to travelers. This kind of accommodation will turn a location into a culture, time into experience and a stranger into a friend. You can easily see that hundreds of 5 star hotels in all over the world are somehow similar but you will never find the similarities among American families. The students may participate in local family activities, including dining out, camping or traveling. Homestay opportunities range from a complete family experience to basic room rental. However, in all kinds of Homestay agreement, the guest is expected to perform duties such as yard work, farm work, babysitting or other household activities.
