Too many children have their eyes glued to TV and computer screens which lead to increased risk of cancer and obesity

Doctors warn that long hours in front of a screen can put kids at a much higher risk of getting cancer in adult life although they still get the daily exercise.

Now, with many kinds of technology available, children are spending a lot of time in front of a screen than ever. Experts warn that the increasing hours sat watching TV, playing computer games or surfing the internet could put children at a much higher risk of getting cancer in adult life despite their getting daily exercise.

Doctors are also afraid of that long spells of inactivity while glued to a screen may lead to the associated health dangers and childhood obesity. They are now calling on parents to limit the amount of time kids watch TV or play computer games to less than 2 hours per day and delay the age that they start allowing toddlers to become viewers.

Children may get lots of physical activity at school through sports or playing. However, if they spend much time sitting down at home in front of TV or computer screens, they would develop bad habits increasing their risk of diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes in their future. Reducing their sedentary time, children can lessen their chances of becoming obese.

According to Professor Mitch Blair of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, mobile phones, or games consoles, or TVs or laptops, advances in technology mean that children will be exposed to screens for longer amounts of time than ever before. The amount of time children spend sat in front of the TV each week should be cut down. Especially, parents should also limit the time they watch the screen for in one go. It is very vital to get children outside more and help them get involved in pursuits not involving sitting down. Instead of sitting down in front of TV or computer screen, parents should let children play kinds of sports such as running, playing soccer, football, swimming or skipping rope. As we may know, exercise is really important. Therefore, it must be done regularly and parents are encouraged to continue reminding this to children. Sometimes, going out to enjoy refresh air is also a good way to help children get away technology devices.
