Why cannot your PC be upgraded to Windows 10 November Update?

As previously announced, Microsoft has officially released the first major update for Windows 10 called the Windows 10 Update Version 1511 or November Update. This update largely improves the entire system and added lots of new features. If you are a Windows 10 user, the upgrade version of Windows 10 Version 1511 Build 10586 is really essential.

The update is always released through Windows Update and all that Windows 10 users need to do is accessing to Windows Update in the Settings to check and download it to your computer. However, some users reflect that they do not get any notification about the update Version 1511, although they checked carefully in Windows Update as soon as it was released. These are some reasons why you do not receive the updates from Microsoft Version 1511:

- You have upgraded to Windows 10 31 days ago.

- You select the “Defer updates” options on Windows 10.

- You have installed and then uninstalled the upgrade.

Let’s consider more specific:

With the first reason, Microsoft announced that the users will only receive the updates when using Windows 10 at least 31 days since the new installation.

Explaining this, Microsoft said that it needs to ensure that users can downgrade Windows if they felt Windows 10 difficult to use. Because once you perform the new upgrade, you will not be able to downgrade Windows 10 to lower version.

In addition, some users of Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise versions have made the setup prevent the installation of updates from Windows Update will not also receive the Windows 10 Update Version 1511 because this has prevented the Version 1511 from posting to your computer. Therefore, if you have selected “Defer updates” option, you just need to disable it by following these steps:

Call the Group Policy Editor dialog box by typing "gpedit.msc" in RUN and press ENTER.

In Group Policy Editor, you will find the Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update.

Here you will find the option "Defer Upgrades and Updates" and double click on it.

Dialog box appears, if the “Enabled” option is selected, click to select the "Disabled" or "Not Configured" option. Then click Apply > OK to save.

In case you cannot access to the Group Policy Editor, you can use a tool called W10Privacy. After downloading it to your computer, unzip and run the EXE file.

In W10Privacy, you click on “tab Tweaks” and uncheck the option “Delay / postpone upgrades (new features) for several months” if it is selected and then click on “Set changed settings”.

Finally, if you have installed the Windows 10 Update Version 1511 earlier and had to take it off, you will not be offered this update from Windows Update again. The only way that you can fix it is clicking the button "Upgrade now" from the Microsoft website.
