Facebook will officially open the Instant Articles feature on April 12

After less than a year experimenting with the news feature Instant Articles, Facebook will officially open for all publishers worldwide to publish their contents on this new platform.

Facebook will formally open Instant Articles on April 12, and all publishers in the world can use it. They can store the content of their posts on Facebook, instead of just sharing links as before.

The Articles Instant feature was first introduced in May last year, with over 10 publishers were involved in the trials, including major newspapers such as the New York Times, NBC News, and many news sites which had a very large number of readers like BuzzFeed.

From 10 first publishers, Instant Articles now has hundreds of registered publishers from around the world. However, Facebook said the previous period was still just testing, in order to gather feedback from publishers and users. Therefore, the upcoming day April 12 can be seen as the official launch date of this platform.

Talk about the news platform Instant Articles, Facebook has said that taking a long time to download content of an article on mobile was a bad experience. Especially for those who did not have a high-speed internet connection. Thus, their objective from the beginning was to create a platform, where people could read the hottest news with the fastest speed.

Facebook also attracts publishers by willing to share advertising revenue on the article. If it is the publishers’ ad posted on their posts, they can keep 100% of revenue. If it is ads sold by Facebook, publishers can keep 70% of revenue.

Also, because of this reason that a number of publishers participating in the trial as the Washington Post and Mic published almost their entire contents to the platform Instant Articles.

However, several other publishers are still worried that being too dependent on Facebook, especially this new news platform can cause them to lose the initiative. Currently, many of the publishers have been dependent on Facebook, by sharing a link to their posts on social networks in order to increase the amount of view.

With owning a new specialized platform for reading news, along with the entries will be stored directly on Facebook, this social network will not unlike the official website of the newspapers and readers will gradually move their habit and no longer access to the news sites. That is what the publishers do not want to, while it makes Facebook earn more money.
