TIPS: HOW TO ARRANGE FLOWERS

Flowers, through decades, are still one of the most beautiful things from our mother nature. Ponies, Roses, Tulips and various types of flowers with different color and hues prettify this world. They not only cheer the joy, excitement and happiness; but they also share sadness, loneliness and disappointment with us. The sweet smell of flowers makes the air pleasant to breathe. The scent of flowers is extracted and preserved as perfume. People apply it on their clothes to make them sweet smelling. With flowers, our lives become more complete and wonderful. To me, flowers are not simply decorations, household accessories; they enrich family’s daily life with their natural beauty, warm home atmosphere and engage all other member’s senses of humor and joy. 


It is undeniable that flowers play a vital role in so many people’s daily lives. It’s grown in gardens or arranged to decorate houses. But, how to arrange flowers in our house remains a tough question to housewife. Here are four steps for those who found flower arrangement as a challenge at home.

STEP 1: PREPARATIONS

· Sharp scissors or clippers

· A vessel

· Your favorite seasonal flowers.

After buying flowers from market or taking them from gardens, you should give them a cut at a 45 degree angle and remove any foliage that may fall below the water line. Then, you should also cut off all leaves below the water level because these leaves could create bacteria that will shorten the life of your flowers. In addition, choosing in-season flowers will be cheaper than imported or out-season ones. Your arrangement is also more seasonally appropriate as a result.

STEP 2: CREAT A BASE 

While it is suggested to add the larger or dominant flowers first, a lot of flower artist high recommend to as a base first if you were not a professional. It will be easier for the beginner to adjust the flowers’ layout.

STEP 3: ADD SMALLER FLOWERS

After a well-proportioned base, you shall begin to add smaller flowers or accent flowers. Some highly recommended flowers for the third step are clematis and saponaria due to its elegant compared to other bigger flowers. If the main flowers are strong tone color such as red, orange, dark blue, violet, etc, your smaller ones’ color needs being bright and easy to pass up. If you chose white, bright yellow or neutral tone for the dominating flowers, the smaller ones should be in dark tone of color to highlight the main part.

STEP 4: START PLACING THE FINAL BLOOMS

According to flower artists to the newbie, it is easy to place them in all the holes in your arrangement. There is value to negative space in floral arrangements, but try to avoid adding too many flowers.

With four easy-to-do steps above, anyone could become flower artist at home. However, for a longer lasting bouquet, cut the stems every couple of days and add fresh water to your vase.
